StitchKeep keeps everything on your device, with no account. That keeps your data private, and it also means backups are in your hands. Here is how they work.
Backups
Does StitchKeep back up automatically?
Yes, on your device. Each day you use the app it saves a data-only backup (threads, projects, notes and stitching time, without photos) and keeps the last 7. You can see them in the Files app under On My iPhone › StitchKeep › Backups.
These stay on the device, so they won't help if the phone is lost. For that, make a full backup and save it somewhere else.
How do I make a full backup?
- Open the Projects tab and tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Under Backups, tap Back Up Everything.
- Save the
StitchKeep Backup.zipfile to iCloud Drive, another cloud folder, or your computer.
Back Up Everything includes photos and pattern files. Back Up Data Only makes a smaller .json file without them.
Can I export my stash to a spreadsheet?
Yes. In Settings › Import & Export, tap Export Stash (CSV) to get a CSV file you can open in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets.
Restore
How do I restore a backup?
- Open Settings (Projects tab › gear icon).
- Under Backups, tap Restore from Backup.
- Pick a
.zipor.jsonbackup file.
Restoring adds to what is already in the app: threads are merged and the backup's projects are added. It doesn't erase anything first.
I deleted a project by mistake.
Deleted projects stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, so you can restore them from there.
Moving to a new phone
How do I move my StitchKeep data to a new iPhone or iPad?
StitchKeep doesn't sync with iCloud yet, so copy your data across with a backup file:
- On the old device: Settings › Backups › Back Up Everything, and save the file to iCloud Drive (or AirDrop it to the new device).
- On the new device: install StitchKeep, open Settings › Backups › Restore from Backup, and pick that file.
If you set up the new phone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one, or with Quick Start, your StitchKeep data usually comes along. Make a backup file first anyway, just in case.
Other questions
Is StitchKeep really free?
Yes. Every feature is free, with no ads and no subscription. The tip jar is optional and unlocks nothing.
Do you see my data?
No. Nothing you enter leaves your device unless you share or export it yourself. See the privacy policy.
