Compatibility checklist
Check a chart before you submit it. Solid boxes are required for the StitchKeep-ready badge; dashed boxes are recommended. Each item links to the reason in the chart spec.
The file
- Exported from charting software as a PDF, not scanned or saved as an image. Why
- Opens without a password.
- The first chart page is one of the first 8 pages, so it's found on import. Why
The grid
- Drawn as lines (or thin filled bars), every line running edge to edge. Why
- At least 20 × 20 cells on every chart page.
- Square cells, at least 4 pt each.
- Cells 8 pt or larger.
- Every 10th line heavier in both directions, at least 1.4× the thin lines (1.2 pt against 0.4 pt works well).
The symbols
- Symbols are real text in an embedded font, not outlines or pictures. Why
- One symbol per cell, centered in the cell.
- Every symbol is distinct by font and character.
The legend
- On the chart page, in the first 12 pages or in the last 4 pages. Why
- One row per symbol: the symbol, then the thread (
X DMC 310 Black). - Non-DMC threads have the brand name before the code (
Anchor 403). - Each row prints its stitch count.
Multi-page charts
- The same cell size on every chart page. Why
- 1 to 3 rows or columns repeated at each page break.
- A page map showing the order.
Extras
- An OXS file next to the PDF, for backstitch, fractional stitches, knots and beads. Why
How the check is done
Check a chart in your browser: it runs the same checks as the app and nothing is uploaded. Or send a chart through the application form. We open it in StitchKeep's compatibility report, which runs the same grid, symbol, legend and page-overlap detection as the chart marker, and send you the report. A chart passes when no required item fails. The test copy is used only for the check and deleted afterwards.
